<p><em>Wm. H. Taft High School, and </em><em>Glassmen Drum &amp; Bugle Corps</em></p>
<p>Eric Carraway is an educator, arranger, and percussionist who resides  in San Antonio, Texas.  He currently serves as Associate Director of  Bands and Percussion Specialist at William H. Taft High School.  His  duties include conducting the Symphonic Band, assisting with the jazz  program, as well as overseeing all aspects of the 45+ member percussion  program.  Mr. Carraway also teaches the beginning percussion class at  Briscoe Middle School.  In addition to being a perennial Sweepstakes  program, the Taft Raider Band has advanced to the UIL 5A State Marching  Contest two of the last three 5A state seasons.  The Taft indoor  drumline has also enjoyed success as an Open Class competitor in both  the TCGC and TECA circuits.  Mr. Carraway’s concert percussion ensembles  and soloists have consistently advanced to the Texas State Solo and  Ensemble competition and received superior ratings.</p>
<p>Prior to his appointment at Taft, Mr. Carraway was the Assistant Band  Director and Percussion Specialist at W. Charles Akins High School in  Austin, TX.  During this time, Akins was one of only ten bands in the  State of Texas to qualify and perform in finals competition at the 2006  UIL 5A Marching Contest.  During the 2006 indoor drumline season, Akins  was a Class A medalist at TCGC finals.</p>
<p>Mr. Carraway has been involved in the drum corps activity as an  instructor, arranger, tour management assistant, and performer for the  last 14 consecutive seasons.  Since 2008 he has been the front ensemble  coordinator for the Glassmen.  In 2007 he was the front ensemble  arranger and instructor for the Crossmen.  As a DCI performer, Mr.  Carraway spent six years as a front ensemble member of the Cavaliers  (02-03), Glassmen (99-01), and Marion Cadets (98).  He was also a member  of the WGI Independent group Matrix for three years (00-02) and  instructed Austin Independent in 2007.</p>
<p>Mr. Carraway received a Master of Music degree in percussion  performance from the University of Texas at Austin where he studied with  Thomas Burritt and was a graduate assistant in percussion.  He is also a  magna cum laude graduate of Kent State University where he studied with  Ted Rounds and received a bachelor’s degree in music education.</p>
